Full Tang Katana
All of our swords we sell are full tang, which means the blade extends all the way into the bottom of the handle (tsuka). This method of construction ensures are Katana are strong, resilient and ideal for cutting practise.
High Carbon Steel Katana
We only create high carbon steel Katana, ensuring are blades are hard, strong and capable of taking and retaining a cutting edge. These are not poor stainless steel replicas, but functional blades that need to be cared for carefully in order to prevent oxidisation.
Our swords are available in 1060, 1080 or 1095 carbon steel. We also offer spring and T10 steel for some models. See our guide to sword steels for more infromation.
Folded or Damascus Steel Katana
Some of our Katana are available as with Damascus or Folded steel blades. This means the blades have been folded multiple times in order to hamagonize the carbon content. This process is redundant for modern carbon steel, however, it produces beautiful and distinct fold lines throughout the Katana blade.
Clay Tempered Katana Australia
Clay tempering a Katana involves adding a clay of differing thicknesses to the Katana blade which is then heated and cooled. The clay adds a layer of insulation, ensuring the cutting edge and spine cool at differing rates. The result is a blade with a strong hard cutting edge and a flexible spine, allowing the Katana to benefit from both types of steel.
Coloured Blade Katana
If you're looking for a Katana that is not the usual metalic colour, we offer several blade colours, including purple, red, black, green and blue. The coloured blade is accomplished by an anodizing process. So, wether you're looking for a black blade Katana, or something a bit lighter, we have many options.
